The gorges of Alcantara (Al Qantarah) were named because of the river that for thousands of years has widened the walls of basalt to form the gorges.
The name comes from the period of Arab domination.
Part of the gorges can be visited freely if you take the public access or, with a little fee you can use the elevator.
The other part of the gorges can be visited with a guide after having rented a canyoning equipment.
Very good picnic spot with kids.
